Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Pate-sur-pate, translating to paste-on-paste, is a ceramic technique where liquid porcelain slip is built up in layers to construct relief designs. The method originated at Sevres in France during the mid-19th century before gaining widespread prominence at the Minton factory in Staffordshire, England.

Artisans apply translucent layers of white porcelain slip onto an unglazed or coloured porcelain body using a brush. Each layer dries before subsequent layers are added, followed by carving and incising details prior to firing and glazing.

Authentic pieces often bear manufacturer marks, artist signatures, or monogram impressions near the base of the design. The relief work exhibits variable transparency where thinner slip allows the background colour to show through, distinguishing it from moulded jasperware.

A decorative plaque can be displayed on a plate stand atop a mantelpiece or mounted within a box frame on a narrow wall space. Positioning ceramic medallions alongside dark timber panelling or architectural moulding highlights the classical motif and visual contrast.

Dust the surface regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a natural bristle brush to clean the raised details. Avoid immersive washing, abrasive cleansers, or chemical solvents that could damage gilded borders or unglazed slip areas.
