Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A pair of Edwardian decorative dishes in porcelain, dated 1900, presents an English Country House style. Each cream-coloured dish features hand-painted floral sprays at the centre in red, pink, yellow and blue, accompanied by navy blue scale pattern borders and gilded rims along the shaped profile. The glazed finish highlights the intricate enamel decoration and gold gilding on both pieces. Measuring 4.5 cm high, 19.5 cm wide and 24 cm deep, these dishes sit in perfect original condition. Such decorative items suit placement on a sideboard top in a dining room, living area, or hallway console table. They add a refined touch to traditional interiors while offering functional display space for small items or serving delicate treats during gatherings. The combination of hand-painted floral motifs and gilded accents brings classic Edwardian elegance to everyday home decor.

FAQs

Edwardian porcelain tableware produced during the early 20th century is defined by refined profiles, classical motifs, intricate hand-painted floral embellishments, and elaborate gilded borders that reflected a revival of 18th-century decorative traditions.

Fine Edwardian pieces were typically crafted from translucent porcelain or bone china, featuring multi-fired enamel glazes, raised gilding applied by hand, and detailed diaper or scale rim borders.

Authentic pieces generally display impressed or printed manufacturer marks on the underside, show delicate hand-painted detailing rather than modern transfer prints, and exhibit subtle surface wear consistent with historical age.

These decorative items can be placed on a sideboard top, console table, or vanity surface to act as elegant catch-all trays for small items, or displayed inside a glazed cabinet as accent ceramics.

Clean gently by hand using warm water and a mild detergent with a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals, abrasive sponges, soaking, or dishwasher cleaning to prevent damage to the gilding and overglaze paint.
