Wemyss Ware is a type of pottery noted for its hand-painted designs, originally produced by the Robert Heron & Son pottery at the Fife Pottery in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, starting in the late 19th century.

Wemyss pieces were typically crafted from earthenware, featuring a white slip ground that served as a canvas for freehand painted decorations, finished with a clear glaze.

Authentic pieces often bear impressed factory marks, retailer stamps such as T. Goode & Co., and distinctive hand-painted signatures or decorator marks alongside characteristic crazing in the glaze.

These pieces function well as accent objects on open shelving, bathroom counters, or dressing tables, introducing historical character, colour, and traditional craftsmanship into contemporary spaces.

Antique earthenware should be kept away from direct sunlight, hand-washed gently in lukewarm water without harsh detergents, and never submerged for extended periods due to the porous nature of the clay and historical glaze crazing.
