This early 19th-century Regency dining table is constructed from mahogany in a warm brown timber colour with a polished finish. The rectangular top comprises three leaves supported by three turned pedestal bases, each featuring reeded columns and four splayed reeded legs ending in brass claw feet and castors. Minor surface wear is visible on the timber top from age and use. Standing at 73.7 cm high, 119.4 cm wide, and 238 cm deep, the table extends to 94 inches using its two leaves. Placed in a dining room, it provides generous seating for family meals and formal dinner parties, making it a functional centrepiece for hosting guests in a home today.

An early 19th-century pedestal dining table is a large dining table constructed during the Regency or late Georgian era, supported by central vertical columns or pedestals rather than perimeter corner legs.

These tables were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, often featuring turned timber pedestals, brass metal castors, and iron or wooden joinery clips.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-carved details, hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass castors with period wear, and uneven oxidisation or patina on the underside of the mahogany timber.

Balance the deep mahogany tones by pairing the table with upholstered contemporary chairs, neutral textiles, and a minimalist pendant light centered above the tabletop.

Clean the surface with a soft, lint-free cloth, polish periodically with natural beeswax, and keep the table away from direct sunlight and radiator heat to prevent wood shrinkage or cracking.
