Sword No 6696 was made in 1855 and was sold to a Mr. Platt who later purchased a commision as Captain in the 1st Battalion 16th (the Bedfordshire) Regiment of Foot. Captain Platt was sadly to pass away in 1857 when on Garrison Duty at the British Army camp The Curragh in Ireland. The sword is with a possibly later Sam Browne Belt and Service Scabbard.
