This George III card table dates from the Georgian period around 1750 and is shaped from rich mahogany wood with a warm brown colour and polished finish. The rectangular fold-over top sits above a single frieze drawer fitted with an ornate brass swing handle with detailed backplates. Carved cabriole legs decorated with floral motifs terminate in detailed ball and claw feet, while the lower edge of the frieze displays a carved gadrooned moulding. Measuring 73 cm high, 81 cm wide, and 42 cm deep, the table fits neatly against a hallway wall or serves as an accent piece in a drawing room or living space today.

A George III card table is an 18th-century piece of British furniture designed with a hinged fold-over top to facilitate card playing and social gaming during the Georgian period.

Typically crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, these tables feature hand-cut dovetail joints, carved cabriole legs, and brass drop handles or backplates.

Authentic period examples display hand-planed secondary timbers such as oak or pine, original iron or brass hinges, hand-carved decorative motifs, and natural wear patterns on the feet and frame.

When folded closed, a card table functions effectively as an entryway console or hall table, providing a surface for table lamps, ceramics, and framed artwork.

Maintain the finish by regularly dusting with a soft cloth, applying beeswax sparingly along the grain, and positioning the wood away from direct heat sources and extreme humidity fluctuations.
