His work has been described as "probably the most elegant'. Each sheath is carved in a spiral form with a swivel link chain and has either a two or four prong hook for carrying the weight of the knitting. Chip carved decoration to the end. It measures 49.5cm l when fully stretched out x 3cm d at its widest part. C1880
