A 19th century Chinese cinnabar lacquer tray

Black ground with central lobed carved relief in red cinnabar lacquer of floral devices, similar carved panels to each of the internal and external canted sides, each highlighted in gilt. Each side is pierced with carrying handles. The base is lined in morocco leather.

The rectangular tray rests on a wooden stand and has a black ground with a central lobed carved relief in red cinnabar lacquer of floral devices. Similar carved panels appear on each of the internal and external canted sides, highlighted in gilt, and each side is pierced with carrying handles. The base is lined in morocco leather, and the tray has a rectangular raised border.
