This is a late Victorian Sheraton Revival occasional table in warm brown mahogany, featuring a smooth oval top with a delicate inlaid border, slender tapered legs ending in spade feet, and curved stretchers supporting a small central circular undertier. The polished timber displays deep grain variations and a lustrous sheen, complemented by boxwood inlay with ebony cross-banding throughout the frame. Measuring 71.5 cm high, 70 cm wide, and 45 cm deep, this versatile piece fits neatly beside an armchair or at the end of a sofa in a living room, serving as a practical surface for books, lamps, or decorative items while adding traditional English Country House charm to a modern interior.

Emerging in the late nineteenth century, Sheraton Revival furniture draws inspiration from the eighteenth-century designs of Thomas Sheraton, featuring refined lines, delicate proportions, inlaid woodwork, and tapered legs.

Craftsmen primarily utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany or satinwood, often adorned with fine wood marquetry, crossbanding, and tapered square legs joined by delicate stretchers.

Look for late nineteenth-century construction marks such as hand-cut joinery, original patination, fine boxwood or satinwood stringing, and balanced neo-classical proportions typical of the 1890 to 1910 period.

Place this type of accent table beside a contemporary sofa or arm-chair to add warmth, using the polished wood top to display a lamp, vase, or decorative object.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year, avoiding direct sunlight and artificial heat sources.
