Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. The Sustainable Choice

This Edwardian gaming equipment comprises a large circular roulette wheel dating from circa 1900. Fashioned from dark brown rosewood, brass, nickel, and steel, the piece displays a polished wooden rim with inlaid diamond-shaped markers, a turned metal central turret with a white spherical finial, and a numbered inner track containing a white casino ball. The deep-toned rosewood exhibits prominent figuring and grain patterns across the broad surface, complemented by the metallic sheen of the central spindle and the warm brass finish of the inner wheel structure. Measuring 22 cm high by 50 cm wide by 50 cm deep, the substantial object sits effectively upon a sideboard top within a study, library, or games room. It functions as a decorative display item and a collector's piece of antique gaming memorabilia within a domestic interior.

FAQs

Modern roulette wheels evolved from 18th-century French designs combined with traditional gaming wheels, gaining widespread popularity across European gaming salons by the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

High-end examples from around 1900 were typically constructed using dense hardwoods such as rosewood or mahogany, accompanied by nickel-plated or brass metal turrets and bone markers.

Authentic pieces feature precision-engineered metal spindles, hand-engraved or painted numbering tracks, appropriate patination on metal surfaces, and solid wood construction rather than modern synthetic materials.

These historical objects function as statement display pieces on console tables, sideboards, or within glass cabinets in study and library spaces.

Maintain the wood surface with high-grade beeswax polish, keep the item away from direct heat sources to prevent wood movement, and clean metal parts using a dry microfibre cloth.
