FAQs

Coffee tables influenced by 19th-century cabinetmaking often feature refined low-profile silhouettes, decorative timber veneers, and geometric marquetry or parquetry patterns along the surface and apron.

These tables typically utilise hardwoods such as mahogany, satinwood, or walnut, incorporating hand-laid timber veneers, delicate stringing, and mortise-and-tenon joinery.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut marquetry with subtle natural variations, age-appropriate timber patination, hand-planed underside surfaces, and historic joinery rather than modern mechanical fixings.

Position the table centrally in a seating arrangement over a neutral woven rug, pairing it with simple contemporary upholstery to highlight the geometric wood inlay and warm timber tones.

Dust regularly using a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish sparingly along the timber grain, avoiding silicone sprays, liquid spillages, and direct placement near heat sources.
