Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of original 1930 Art Deco stamp wetters originates from the desk accessory category and is fashioned from amber phenolic resin, specifically Bakelite and Catalin. The objects display a warm amber colour palette with marbled resin effects, showcasing stepped profiles, fluted sides, and hollowed rectangular wells as decorative motifs. Visible details include horizontal moulded ribs along the outer flanks and smooth, polished interior cavities designed to hold liquid. One well features a small circular central indentation at the base, while the other exhibits a fine dark fracture line running across the inner floor. These matching desk items measure approximately 10 cm in length and 8 cm in width, sizing them compactly for placement upon a study or office desk. They function well as decorative desktop accessories or paperweights within a period workspace interior today.

FAQs

A Bakelite stamp wetter, or stamp damper, is an early to mid-20th-century office desk accessory designed to hold a moistened sponge or roller for moistening adhesive postage stamps and envelope flaps.

Carvacraft desk items were typically cast from phenolic resins such as Bakelite or Catalin, known for their dense weight, rich marbled colours, and smooth carved geometric profiles.

Authentic pieces often display subtle colour shifts due to surface oxidisation over time, feature smooth moulded or carved stepped Art Deco motifs, and release a characteristic chemical scent when exposed to friction or warm water.

These compact resin objects can be displayed on an office desk, styled on bookshelf tiers, or repurposed as small catch-alls for paperclips and small stationery items.

Keep items away from direct sunlight and intense heat to prevent colour fading or material breakdown, and clean gently with a soft microfibre cloth and mild soapy water.
