Wine tables, also known as tripod tables or torcheres, gained popularity during the 18th century in Britain as moveable stands used to hold glasses or bottles during social gatherings.

These tables are typically constructed from dense hardwoods like mahogany, featuring a circular top, a central turned pedestal column, and three splayed cabriole legs joined with traditional woodworking joints.

Authenticity is assessed through timber grain characteristics, hand-cut joinery methods, natural patination, and wear patterns consistent with age rather than artificial distress.

A wine table functions effectively as a compact surface next to an armchair or sofa, providing a functional perch for lighting, glassware, or decorative objects without cluttering the room.

Preservation involves keeping the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent cracking, dusting with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying natural beeswax to maintain the finish.
