A Georgian tilt top table is an occasional table featuring a hinged circular top that can be pivoted vertically to save space when not in use, supported by a central pillar and three cabriole legs.

These tables were typically constructed from domestic hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, often featuring mortise and tenon joinery and turned central pedestals.

Authentic pieces usually display period construction methods such as hand-cut dovetails, traditional pegged joints, signs of age-related patination, and the original birdcage or catch mechanism beneath the top.

Position the table beside a sofa or in an unused corner to provide functional surface space while adding architectural warmth and historical texture to contemporary schemes.

Maintain the wood by applying natural beeswax periodically, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading, and keeping the piece away from extreme fluctuations in temperature and humidity.
