FAQs

Art Deco emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, streamlined forms, and the use of luxurious materials such as burr veneers, chrome, and exotic hardwoods.

These pieces frequently utilise solid carcase woods overlaid with highly figured decorative veneers like walnut, maple, or macassar ebony, often finished with a high-gloss french polish or lacquer.

Authentication involves examining the underlying timber construction, joinery techniques, veneer thickness, and hardware fixings, alongside checking for period-correct wear patterns and finishing methods.

Pairing this statement furniture with minimalist contemporary seating and neutral backgrounds allows the rich grain and geometric silhouette to serve as a focal point without overwhelming the space.

Maintain the finish by avoiding direct sunlight and excessive moisture, using coasters or protective pads, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the polished wooden surface.
