We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Art Deco desk accessory is an original Rene Lalique stationery rocker blotter from 1920. The piece pairs a thick, gently curved upper section of moulded frosted and clear glass with a polished curved metal base. The glass top displays a detailed artichoke leaf motif in relief, accented by areas of blue and green staining across the textured pattern. The object measures 6 cm high, 17 cm wide, and 8.5 cm deep. Designed for a home office, the desk blotter sits neatly on a study desktop or executive writing table as a functional paperweight and blotter. The heavy glass top is shaped with rounded ends and fits securely over the smooth metallic rocker curve underneath.

Desk blotters from the early twentieth century were functional writing accessories designed to hold absorbent paper for drying excess ink from fountain pens, frequently crafted with decorative press-moulded glass tops.

These items were produced using press-moulded clear or frosted glass, with coloured patinas or enamelling applied into recessed relief areas to emphasise decorative sculpted motifs.

Authentic period art glass features crisp relief detail, smooth hand-finished edges, defined weight, and specific signatures such as wheel-cut, moulded, or acid-etched marks located near the base.

Position the piece atop a contemporary executive desk, a vintage library table, or stacked decorative art books to introduce a textured historical focal point.

Dust gently using a soft microfibre cloth and avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemical detergents that could strip original hand-applied patinas from recessed areas.
