Georgian wine tables emerged during the 18th century in Britain, designed specifically to hold wine glasses and bottles during social gatherings in the drawing room or parlour.

Cabinet makers typically utilised solid mahogany, imported from the Americas and Caribbean, alongside native hardwoods like oak for internal framing and support structures.

Authenticity is determined by examining hand-cut dovetails, traditional joinery, natural timber shrinkage, patination, and tool marks consistent with period woodworking practises.

A small antique table adds warmth and historical contrast when placed beside a modern sofa or used as a compact surface for a reading lamp.

Maintain timber furniture by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, and apply natural beeswax periodically to nourish the polished wood surface.
