Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Victorian games and card tables became exceptionally popular during the 19th century as parlour pastimes and entertaining guests grew into central social activities for the middle and upper classes.

These tables were typically crafted from hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut, frequently embellished with intricate marquetry and veneered inlays using exotic woods like satinwood or boxwood.

Authenticity is determined by traditional joinery techniques, hand-cut dovetails in the drawers, natural patination of the timber, and period-appropriate hardware such as brass castors and hinges.

An antique games table functions effectively as an occasional console or a standalone display surface in a living room, pairing well with contemporary minimalist seating to create historical contrast.

Maintain antique wooden furniture by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking, and apply microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the surface.
