The George III style spans the reign of King George III from 1760 to 1820, encompassing major design movements from early Palladianism and Rococo to Neoclassicism and Regency, marked by expert craftsmanship and the widespread adoption of imported mahogany.

These pieces were typically constructed from dense timbers such as Honduran mahogany, oak, or walnut, featuring mortise and tenon joinery, hand-turned pedestals, and dovetailed components.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of age-related wear, hand-cut joinery, timber shrinkage, use of old growth wood with rich patina, and hand-forged iron or brass fixings rather than modern screws.

This piece can be paired with contemporary upholstered seating to create textural contrast, serving as a functional surface in a living space while introducing historical depth.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, and apply natural beeswax periodically to nourish the surface and preserve the polish.
