Nineteenth-century Staffordshire figures were produced by numerous potteries in the Staffordshire region of England, primarily as decorative mantel ornaments for the working and middle classes.

These figures were typically made from earthenware, slip-cast or hand-modelled, and decorated with underglaze or overglaze enamel colours before being fired in a kiln.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit crazing in the glaze, hollow construction with a vent hole, hand-painted details, and weight characteristics consistent with period earthenware rather than modern cast resins.

These figurative ceramics function effectively as decorative shelf objects, mantel displays, or accent pieces within eclectic and traditional interior schemes.

Clean gently with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or submersion in water to protect the aged glaze and painted surface.
