FAQs

An Edwardian envelope card table is a multi-functional piece of furniture featuring a clever folding top mechanism that opens to reveal a baize-lined surface for card games, popular during the early 20th century.

These tables were typically crafted from dense hardwoods like rosewood or mahogany, frequently embellished with intricate marquetry, satinwood stringing, and brass hardware.

Authenticity is identified through period-appropriate construction techniques, hand-cut dovetails in the drawers, genuine wood veneers, and traditional hand-rubbed French polish finishes.

It can be positioned in a living room as a distinctive occasional table or behind a sofa, where its detailed marquetry top adds texture and historical contrast to contemporary schemes.

Preserve the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying a quality microcrystalline wax to protect the polish.
