FAQs

Early 20th-century British wallpaper designs frequently drew inspiration from historical textiles, arts and crafts movements, and traditional botanical motifs, executed with meticulous hand-drawn detail.

These works were typically created using high-grade watercolour paints, bodycolour, and ink applied to heavyweight artist papers or mounting boards, often featuring handwritten colour swatches and reference numbers.

Authentication relies on examining the paper quality, watermark evidence, artist stamps, studio inscriptions, and the presence of genuine pigment layering typical of pre-print production artwork.

Framing these historical works behind UV-protective glass allows them to serve as sophisticated focal points in studies, hallways, or living rooms, bridging traditional heritage with contemporary decor.

To prevent fading and degradation, antique watercolours must be displayed away from direct sunlight and framed using acid-free mount boards and conservation-grade materials.
