Regency furniture design flourished in Britain between approximately 1811 and 1830, heavily influenced by neoclassical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian motifs. This era prized symmetrical balance, dark exotic timbers, and fine brass detailing.

Cabinet makers of the Regency period frequently utilised dense exotic hardwoods such as rosewood and mahogany, often featuring finely figured veneers. Structural components were frequently reinforced with cast brass elements and mounted on brass castors.

Authentic pieces exhibit period construction techniques, including hand-cut dovetailing, traditional timber shrinkage patterns, and genuine patination on the wood and brass. Makers of this era favoured heavy central pedestals resting on downswept tripod or quadruped legs.

A classic round centre table functions effectively as a focal point in a large hallway or as a conversational grouping in a living space. Pairing historical timber with minimalist contemporary seating creates a balanced, curated interior scheme.

Maintain antique rosewood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking. Apply microcrystalline wax sparingly to nourish the timber and protect the polished surface from moisture.
