Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

The Gothic Revival movement emerged in the mid-19th century as a reaction against industrial manufacturing, drawing inspiration from medieval architecture and design motifs such as pointed arches, tracery, and heavy carved woodwork.

These tables are traditionally constructed from solid native timber, particularly oak, utilizing mortise and tenon joints, hand-carved detailing, and pegged assembly to ensure structural integrity and longevity.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct joinery, natural patination and oxidisation on the wood surfaces, hand-carved ornamentation rather than machine moulding, and dense, heavy native timber construction.

Pairing heavy historic wooden furniture with minimalist contemporary seating or sleek architectural surroundings creates a striking visual contrast that highlights the craftsmanship of the piece.

Maintain antique wooden surfaces by keeping them away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the grain.
