FAQs

Early 20th-century wallpaper frequently featured bold pictorial scenes, theatrical trompe-lil framing, and vibrant thematic motifs created by pioneering interior designers.

Historic wallpaper samples were typically printed on heavyweight rag paper or traditional block-print substrates using surface-printing or early screen-printing techniques.

Authenticity is determined by paper ageing characteristics, printing registration marks, traditional pigment types, and makers stamps or selvage text along the edges.

Framing historic wallpaper samples as bespoke wall art preserves fragile archive pieces while introducing historical pattern and colour into contemporary spaces.

Preservation requires mounting with acid-free materials, displaying away from direct sunlight, and maintaining stable humidity levels to prevent paper degradation.
