Oushak carpets originate from the town of Usak in Turkey and are historically known for their larger-scale floral motifs, muted colour palettes, and softer wool texture compared to Persian weaves.

Traditional Oushak carpets were hand-knotted using hand-spun sheep wool for both the pile and the foundation structure, often dyed with natural vegetable and insect-based colourants.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the irregular knot count, organic variations in natural dyes, hand-spun wool characteristics, and natural wear patterns consistent with age.

Carpet fragments and runners can be mounted as textile wall art, framed behind glass, or repurposed as high-end table runners to introduce historic texture into contemporary spaces.

Preservation requires keeping the textile out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, vacuuming with low suction without a beater bar, and avoiding excessive moisture.
