A quaich is a traditional Scottish two-handled drinking vessel, historically used for welcoming guests or as a parting glass of whisky, originating in the Highlands.

Traditional antique quaichs are hand-carved or stave-built from native hardwoods such as laburnum, boxwood, or sycamore, often featuring reinforced hoops.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-tooled marks, natural patination from age and handling, shrinkage cracks consistent with old timber, and traditional construction methods without modern adhesives.

A wooden quaich works well as a sculptural tabletop object, styled on a stack of books, a coffee table, or displayed within a cabinet to introduce historical texture.

Keep antique treen away from direct sunlight, extreme temperature fluctuations, and excessive moisture; occasionally apply a neutral microcrystalline wax to nourish the dry wood.
