A Georgian tilt-top table features a hinged circular top that can be pivoted vertically to save space when not in use, popular during the 18th century for serving tea or holding lighting.

These tables are traditionally constructed from dense tropical hardwoods like mahogany or oak, often utilizing a central turned pillar supported by three curved cabriole legs.

Authenticity is assessed by examining hand-cut joinery, timber patination, iron birdcage mechanisms beneath the top, and signs of age such as shrinkage cracks and manual wear.

Positioned beside a sofa or in an empty corner, a tilt-top table provides functional surface area for a lamp or small decorative objects while adding historic warmth to contemporary spaces.

Preserve antique mahogany by maintaining stable indoor humidity, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading, and applying occasional natural beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
