Regency furniture, spanning the late 18th to early 19th centuries, is characterised by classical symmetry, classical revival motifs, and refined proportions inspired by ancient Greece and Rome.

High-end tables from this period were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, frequently accented with brass castors, ebony stringing, and solid secondary timbers such as oak or pine.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, traditional timber shrinkage patterns, patination consistent with age, and hand-turned wooden components rather than modern machine-tooled elements.

Pairing a dark wood antique table with minimalist contemporary seating or placing it as a focal point in a brightly lit room creates a balanced juxtaposition between historic craftsmanship and modern simplicity.

Maintain antique timber by dusting regularly with a dry, soft cloth, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading, and occasionally applying pure beeswax to nourish the wood grain.
