Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency furniture, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1830, is characterised by classical proportions, neoclassical motifs inspired by ancient Greece and Rome, and a refined use of dark tropical hardwoods such as mahogany and rosewood.

These pieces were typically crafted from solid or veneered mahogany over secondary timbers like pine or oak, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints in drawer construction, turned or reeded legs, and brass castors for mobility.

Authentic pieces show age-appropriate patina, hand-forged or early cast brass hardware, hand-cut joinery without modern screws, and traditional timber shrinkage patterns consistent with early 19th-century manufacturing techniques.

Pair the historical timber piece with minimalist modern seating and contemporary lighting to create a balanced study space that highlights the rich grain and craftsmanship of the antique.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish and protect the polished surface.
