Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Bentwood furniture manufacturing was pioneered in the 19th century by Michael Thonet, who developed a steam-bending process that allowed solid wood to be curved into elegant, flowing shapes without losing structural integrity.

These stands are typically constructed using European beech wood, chosen for its exceptional flexibility when exposed to steam, often paired with brass or iron hardware and internal structural screws.

Authentic pieces from the 19th or early 20th century often feature manufacturer paper labels or stamps, hand-turned finials, slotted screw fastenings, and a rich patina developed through decades of oxidisation.

A bentwood stand provides vertical storage and organic lines that soften minimalist or contemporary hallways, offering a practical solution for coats, hats, and umbrellas while adding historical character.

Maintain the wood by dusting regularly with a dry cloth and occasionally applying high-quality beeswax to nourish the finish, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive moisture to prevent warping.
