This early 20th-century Turkish water pot originates from the Anatolian folk tradition, serving as a functional vessel for domestic use. The piece takes the form of a wheel-thrown terracotta body finished with a mottled green glaze that drips down the neck and dual loop handles over an unglazed buff surface. Visible details include dual loop handles, a tapered base, and visible age wear across the earthenware exterior. The pot stands 38 cm high, 28 cm wide, and 28 cm deep. In a modern interior, this vessel sits suitably on a sideboard top to introduce rustic farmhouse character to a living space or hallway. The neutral buff tones and green glaze allow the pot to integrate smoothly with traditional and eclectic room schemes alike, while the dual loop handles and traditional silhouette provide practical styling options for decorative or display purposes.

Traditionally produced across Anatolia during the Ottoman period, these earthenware vessels were designed for fetching and storing water. The porous nature of the clay kept stored liquid cool through evaporation, while partial glazes around the neck prevented excessive moisture absorption.

These vessels were hand-thrown on potters wheels using local terracotta clay. Potters applied copper-based lead glazes around the upper rim and handles before firing, leaving the lower body unglazed to maintain breathability.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-formed dual handles, visible wheel-throwing ridges inside the rim, and uneven glaze drips. Variations in clay tonality and surface wear reflect historical utilitarian use rather than modern reproduction techniques.

Place this ceramic vessel on a sideboard top, fireplace hearth, or hallway console table to add tactile interest to modern schemes. It functions effectively as a standalone sculptural object or paired with dried botanical stems.

Dust the exterior using a dry, soft-bristled brush or microfibre cloth to protect the friable clay surface. Keep the object indoors in a temperature-controlled environment, avoiding liquid saturation which can compromise unglazed earthenware.
