Burmantofts Faience refers to the decorative architectural and artistic pottery produced by Leeds Fireclay Company in England during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for innovative glazes and relief designs.

These pieces were typically crafted from local red earthenware clay, moulded in high relief with detailed botanical and animal motifs, and finished with monochrome coloured or reactive glazes.

Authentic pieces often feature impressed factory marks, such as the monogram BF or Burmantofts, alongside shape or pattern numbers stamped into the unglazed clay base.

Such pieces can be mounted securely on a neutral wall as a focal point or displayed on a sturdy plate stand within a bookshelf to add texture and historical contrast.

Dust the surface gently with a soft, dry brush or microfibre cloth, avoiding any harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive materials, or immersion in water to protect the glaze and clay body.
