Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Games tables gained popularity in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries as indoor pastimes like chess, checkers, and card games became central to upper-class social life.

Master cabinetmakers predominantly utilised dense hardwoods such as walnut, oak, and mahogany, frequently incorporating marquetry, parquetry, and inlaid stones like marble or slate for playing surfaces.

Authenticity is evaluated through traditional joinery methods such as hand-cut dovetails, tool marks indicative of hand-working, natural patina, and the type of secondary woods used in the frame construction.

Such pieces function effectively as focal points in studies or living rooms, contrasting against contemporary minimalist furnishings or complementing traditional interiors to add depth and historical character.

To preserve antique wood and inlays, maintain stable room temperatures, avoid direct sunlight, and periodically apply microcrystalline wax while avoiding harsh liquid cleaners.
