FAQs

A drum table is a type of circular occasional or library table featuring a deep, cylindrical frieze containing drawers, typically supported by a central pillar and a multi-footed platform base.

Maltese cabinetmakers frequently utilised locally sourced olive wood, particularly prized for its distinctive, highly figured grain patterns, alongside other Mediterranean hardwoods.

Authentic 19th-century tables display period construction methods such as hand-cut joinery, traditional finishing materials like shellac, and natural timber ageing including shrinkage cracks and patination.

An antique drum table functions effectively as a focal centrepiece in a hallway or as an anchor beside a sofa, contrasting against minimalist modern furnishings to add warmth and texture.

Preserve olive wood surfaces by avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity fluctuations, applying periodic applications of microcrystalline wax to nourish and protect the grain.
