In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

The Georgian style encompasses furniture produced during the reigns of the first four Georges, characterised by classical proportions, symmetry, and a transition from heavy walnut to refined mahogany.

Authentic pieces were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over secondary softwoods, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints and traditional joinery techniques.

Authenticity is identified through original patination, hand-planed surfaces, subtle tool marks, period-appropriate hardware, and structural joinery consistent with eighteenth-century cabinet making.

Pairing historical wooden furniture with minimalist contemporary seating or clean architectural backgrounds creates a balanced, sophisticated contrast that highlights the craftsmanship.

Maintain stable humidity and temperature levels, keep the wood away from direct sunlight, and nourish the surface periodically using traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone sprays.
