A William IV tea table is an 1830s British folding table designed for serving tea or social games, characterised by bold proportions, turned pedestals, and carved details.

These tables were typically crafted from rich hardwoods such as rosewood and mahogany, often featuring highly figured surface veneers, solid turned columns, and carved scroll supports.

Authentic period pieces feature substantial turned or acanthus-carved pedestal columns, quadform concave bases, carved scroll brackets, and swivel fold-over tops over a shallow internal frieze well.

Position the table folded closed against an entryway wall to serve as a console, or extend the swivel top open to function as a focal writing desk or sofa side table.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer lifting, dusting regularly with a microfibre cloth and applying high-grade beeswax twice yearly along the grain.
