Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian Rococo Revival porcelain gained popularity during the mid-to-late nineteenth century, taking inspiration from eighteenth-century French ceramics. Characterised by elaborate scrollwork, gilded embellishments, rich ground colours such as cobalt blue, and hand-painted floral cartouches, these pieces were produced by premier English factories including Royal Crown Derby and Coalport.

These items were produced using bone china or porcelain bodies shaped through slip-casting or press-moulding. They underwent multiple firings: an initial bisque firing, a glaze firing, subsequent firings for hand-painted enamel details, and a final firing to fix applied gilding and gold leaf ornamentation.

Authentic pieces feature factory backmarks printed or impressed on the underside, often incorporating a crown motif, date ciphers, or intersecting letters. Additional hallmarks include precision hand-painted enamelling, heavy burnished gilt accents, crisp moulded details, and a translucent bone china body.

Decorative porcelain bowls serve as focal points when positioned along the centre of a formal dining table, atop a sideboard, or within a glass display cabinet. Placing cobalt porcelain against neutral stone, marble, or dark polished timber surfaces highlights the contrast of the gilding and glaze.

Clean gilded porcelain gently using a dry, lint-free microfibre cloth or lukewarm water with a mild pH-neutral soap. Avoid abrasive sponges, chemical polishes, dishwashers, and prolonged soaking, as moisture and friction can wear away antique gilding and enamel over time.
