Welsh 19th century sycamore or similar wood hand carved love spoon, initialled A*J*
Intended as a sentimental / romantic gift, in the symbolic Welsh tradition, essentially made for display rather than use.
The initials and small highlights finely engraved and red paint filled
Inlaid with contrasting wood heart and paisley teardrops.
Pierced with an inverted heart between drinking glasses, roundels and paisley teardrops.
Warm glowing colour with original patination throughout.
In excellent sound condition with old shrinkage split to the top, typical fall chip the the bowl tip, no other damage or repair.
A rare and good early example, guaranteed genuine.
