Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian decorative sign board originates from around 1900 and functions as a tabletop piece with built-in candleholders at the top of the vertical turned posts. The construction consists of dark brown oak timber carrying oval central plaques inscribed with gilt painted lettering. The double-sided sign incorporates a plinth base, carved framing mouldings, and decorative turnings on the upright supports. The wood displays an aged patina across the finished surfaces, showing the natural grain and texture of the material under the dark stain. The piece measures 46 cm long by 44 cm high. Ideal placement includes a bookshelf, a gentleman's library, or a desktop setting within a study or hallway as a decorative accent.

FAQs

Masonic hall signs are ceremonial wooden or metal plaques used within lodge meeting spaces to display instructional text, room designations, or behavioural guidelines for lodge members during assemblies.

These signs were predominantly crafted from solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or pitch pine, and were finished with hand-painted or gilt lettering and varnish.

Authentic period signage often features hand-carved framework, turned decorative uprights, hand-gilded or painted typography showing subtle craquelure, and natural timber wear around the base and handles.

Wooden tabletop signs can be incorporated into contemporary spaces by placing them on bookshelves, mantlepieces, or sideboards alongside tailored leather books and brass decorative accents.

Dust gently with a soft microfibre cloth, keeping the wood away from direct heat sources or damp environments to preserve the original paintwork and natural timber patina.
