Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, is characterised by lighter, more graceful designs inspired by 18th-century revivals, frequently utilising satinwood, mahogany, and walnut veneers.

Master craftsmen typically employed solid secondary timbers like pine or oak for internal framing, overlaid with high-grade decorative wood veneers such as burr walnut, matched with brass or cast-bronze hardware.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails on drawer boxes, subtle patination on the timber surface, and cast brass hardware consistent with early 20th-century manufacturing techniques.

Integrating an antique wooden piece into a modern interior provides textural contrast; pair it with minimalist lighting or contemporary ceramics to create a balanced, curated aesthetic.

Preserve the timber by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the wood, avoiding silicone-based polishes and direct sunlight exposure.
