A beautifully patinated love spoon of small size. The slightly tapering, rectangular handle with a shaped top pierced with a pair of hearts above an incised and red and black sealing wax-decorated tree emanating from a basket-like pot flanked by two boteh symbols. Also three tiny birds or insects, all delicately rendered. The shaped stem extending to a well drawn, egg-shaped bowl with a squared-off tip which appears to be original and not caused through later damage. Circa 1820-60.
