A George III demi-lune tea table is a half-circle folding table produced during the reign of King George III, typically featuring fine mahogany veneers and stringing, designed to sit flush against a wall when not in use.

These tables were constructed primarily using solid timber frames with figured mahogany veneers, often enhanced with boxwood or ebony stringing, hand-cut dovetail joints, and swing-leg mechanisms to support the folding top.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, traditional secondary woods like oak or pine, authentic patination, and period brassware or hand-turned hinges rather than modern machine screws.

This piece works effectively as a console in an entrance hallway or living room, styled minimally with a ceramic vase or decorative bowl to showcase the figured wood grain without cluttering the surface.

Maintain antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber cracking, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the finish.
