Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Wall brackets from the mid-19th century were designed to utilise vertical wall space, particularly room corners, for displaying porcelain, timepieces, or small decorative items. Crafted primarily during the Victorian era, these decorative shelves featured ornate fretwork and scroll designs typical of period cabinetmaking.

Mid-Victorian wall brackets were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or rosewood, cut using fine hand saws to produce intricate fretwork profiles. Structural components were joined with mortise and tenon or small screws and finished with hand-rubbed French polish.

Authentic 19th-century wall brackets exhibit evidence of manual craftsmanship, including hand-planed surfaces on the unpolished rear boards. Look for original brass mounting fixings, natural oxidation in the timber grain, and minor variations across the scrolled fretwork edges.

Antique corner wall brackets can be mounted in architectural alcoves or unused room corners to support small indoor plants, ceramic objects, or framed portrait miniatures. The dark mahogany tones create a visual anchor against lighter or contrasting painted walls.

Dust mahogany wall brackets regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth to clear intricate fretwork cutouts. Maintain the timber finish by applying a natural beeswax polish annually, ensuring the wood is kept away from excess moisture and direct heat sources.
