Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the late nineteenth century, Victorian stained glass shifted from purely religious architecture into domestic homes. Panels often featured naturalistic motifs, such as birds and botanical elements, set within geometric borders of coloured and bullseye glass to enhance privacy and filter sunlight.

Traditional leaded panels were constructed using individual pieces of coloured cathedral glass held together by H-shaped lead cames. Details were hand-painted onto the glass using metallic oxide pigments before being fired in a kiln to permanently fuse the artwork to the glass surface.

Authentic period glass displays subtle natural variations, air bubbles, and irregular thickness characteristic of historical glassmaking methods. The lead cames typically show a dark, naturally oxidised patina, and hand-painted details exhibit visible brushwork fused directly into the glass.

A framed glass panel can be suspended in front of a modern double-glazed window using discreet brass chains to catch natural daylight. Alternatively, it can be mounted into a light box or integrated into an interior timber partition door to allow light transmission between rooms.

Clean glass surfaces gently using distilled water and a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding chemical cleaners or abrasive sprays that can damage painted details or leadwork. Ensure the surrounding wood frame remains dry and check that the lead cames remain structurally stable.
