Collett-Sandars and with a short preface by the editor Thomas Roger Smith (1830-1903). Undated but published 1876 by Chatto & Windus. Stunning full morocco prize binding awarded in 1883 by the Science and Art Department of the Commitee of Council on Education to Charles Carmichael for excelling in the Local Advanced Art Examination in Architecture. 509 pages with 639 finely detailed black and white illustrations. Fabulous prize binding in red full morocco with elaborate gilded detailing.
Condition: Externally some minor loss to gilding with remains bright and fresh. Some minor darkening and some rubbing to extremities. Both bottom back corners bumped. Internally tightly bound with some light foxing to preliminary and terminal pages and throughout to the outer margins/page edges and occasionally to the text which also has an occasional mark. Some light creasing to some bottom corner pages due to the bumping. Department of Art and Science stamp to title page has cut through part of the page but is still intact.
