Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture, dating from 1830 to 1837, marks the transition between the refined elegance of the Regency era and the heavier ornamentation of early Victorian design. Key elements include robust proportions, rich flame mahogany veneers, bold pedestal stems, and carved scroll or claw feet.

These tables were typically constructed with solid mahogany framing and high-grade figured or flame mahogany veneers applied over pine or oak carcasses. Hardware often features solid brass hinges and brass castors concealed beneath carved feet.

Authentic period tables display signs of hand-craftsmanship, such as hand-sawn dovetail joints in internal framing, authentic dark oxidation on the underside of timber, original brass hinges, and a swivelling fold-over mechanism with an internal storage compartment.

When folded closed, this piece operates effectively as a hallway console table styled beneath a framed mirror or artwork. Alternatively, it can be opened to serve as a sofa table or display surface in formal living rooms.

Maintain mahogany surfaces by dusting regularly with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish along the grain once or twice a year, and keep the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking and fading.
