Antique Meerschaum pipe bowl / cheroot holder, European, circa 1880
Carved with a most detailed human skull held by an offering hand.
Top quality, sensitively carved with deep undercutting.
Well colored throughout, little apparent wear, no damage or repair to the meerschaum.
The amber mouthpiece snapped and glued at the screw join, (as so many of these pipes were, repaired with a silver collar).
Height of bowl 35mm, inside diameter of bowl 12mm tapering, length 92mm weight 12.5 grams.
With original fitted case slightly worn but still sound with tight closure
Makers / retailers mark inside.
Boxed weight 38 grams.
