Victorian Brass And Black Enamel Horses Hoof Vesta Case

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Vicky Thomas Antiques

This handsome brass and black enamel vesta case depicting a horses foot complete with fur and shoe, dates from the Victorian era and would have kept matches dry inside and provided the underside of the hoof for striking.

An elegant yet unusual and quirky design, the case measures approximately 5.5cm in length, 4cm across and nearly 2cm tall, and is presented in a good ''used'' condition, with signs of surface wear commensurate with its age - indeed this little matchbox has certainly been loved and it''s still possible to see where the matches were struck. The lid is strong and secure, and the case is in full working condition.

I have cleaned the case but not polished it, so that the buyer may choose how they would prefer it.
