Jason Clarke Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
Comprised of a leather covered brass barrel with single draw-tube and bell shaped eye-piece. The telescope measures 54cms closed, 97cms extended and has a two inch objective lens.
A fine example of its type and in superb condition.

Although this magnificent telescope is unsigned, I have recently sold a telescope of almost identical manufacture by Richard Adie of Liverpool, who was part of the hugely famous Adie family dynasty emanating from Edinburgh in Scotland. Without succinct evidence, it is perhaps too far an assumption to attribute this telescope to Adie but it certainly provides some reasonably concrete dating evidence aside from the style of the eyepiece and other minor design features.
Circa 1845
